The Deji of Akure: An acid-bath boxer ?

The Deji of Akure Land Oba Adepoju Adesina descended so low on sunday evening has he battared one of his wife openly in front of the state specialist hospital Akure, pouring a liquid substance suspected to be acid on her for challenging his authority to marry Mrs Remi Abiola, wife of late chief M.K.O Abiola.

There goes excerpts from ome mind boggling report here. about the Deji of Akure.

And this comment by a poster on the forum, is too intriguing to pass:

When unworthy people find themselves in positions of honour, they will surely mess up themselves as well as the position. A few months ago, the Akure kingmakers voted to dethrone this king for acts un-becoming of a royal father but the Ondo State Government refused to support the Kingmakers' decision thereby making the King retain his throne.

By the time the State Government becomes too embarrassed by the tout's king's misbehaviours they will act in the interest of the people of Akure.

If this is actually true, How sad!

Entertainment: Introducing Tosing - inspiring performer from Akure.

Here's introducing Tosing's new album - Awesome vol 1.
/Ko s'ekun loro mi...afi ijo ati ayo.../
...
/You a ma my Rock / You a ma true love /

Tosing, with a fine blend of breezy horns and keyboard and a pretty laid back vocal delivery will entrap you with this album.
My Love, My Rock is a heavenly gem - when it pops up on your radio or player at 6AM; waking up time.
And that does not take away from its beauty, any-time all-times. Give it a play and feel the rocky love...

Looking foward to TosinG's  live performance in Akure, hopefully before the end of the year.

Table Tennis Sycophancy!

A mini competition, tagged Governor Olusegun Mimiko Table Tennis Competition', is on the way.The event slated to hold from August 25 to 27, will be staged among children between ages of five to 12 across the 18 local governments.

There goes a report in the Nation newspapers titled Table Tennis set for revival in Ondo, in full here

Now, the idea itself is good, even if we are not in mess as a state, for lack of ideas, but that is another matter.
But, Is there no end to School-kid Sycophancy in our state ?

You would have thought there are people around Alagbaka who can bravely throw-away, our senses, and especially theirs, of decency, back to the glorious era when people in a position of trust and authority did things, for a True legacy: Legacies left behind...

In the days of Late Pa. Adefarati, he produced Adefarati Babes renaming Sunshine Stars of Akure, And Obfuscating Meaning by so doing.

Now, its governor Mimiko's turn.

Yet, these people like to pretend they are protegees  to real Yoruba leaders ? Wonder!

To be clear,  why did Chief Obafemi Awolowo not immediately name the then University of Ife after himself ?

Why didn't Pa Ajasin, of Ondo state's government blessed memory, label every major Institutional development of his administration after himself ?

They were men; fine men! Legacies is not about what you create.

Legacies, are found when people hold on to what you create; In that sense, Legacies are made - usually of hardened diamond   - in people's hearts.

To paraphrase the late hip hop rapper - Da Grin, Those men knew what it was.

You can only wish the handlers of Ondo state tried; Maybe they will know what it is.

The Kind of stuff that surprises Emperor Olusegun Obasanjo

Olusegun Obasanjo, is one of Nigeria's lucky (mis)leaders.

Yet, he will go down in history as one of the worst for reasons not needing any rehash.

It must be said however, that of all his prolific state of crudeness at everything, the 2007 elections he supervised for Nigeria has to take the fullarks. In its evil-ness.

And that is why you would think nothing could surprise the emperor himself.

Hear him, speaking about the fact that a court over-ruled his INEC, foot soldiers in Ondo-state.

The development came to me as a great surprise and I never expected that it will happen,” he declared while receiving prominent politicians including billionaire businessman Jimoh Ibrahim who joined the Peoples Democratic Party in Akure, the state capital.

And It makes you cringe to think this is coming from someone who likes to delude himself as being the father of modern(?) Nigeria. Some lauder him an elder statesman. Colour me silly!

No wonder he repeatedly refused to obey Supreme court judgements.

Now,

General O.O, Your party - of gangsters - rigged the election, the way they did In Ekiti, as it was in Osun, and as you failed and failed and will fail to do in Lagos,  but even the most corrupt of all courts know you do not mess around with the people of Ondo state.

How in the world did you not expect that a decent court will over-rule your electoral heist ?

You know, In the old days when men were men, It would be wrong to repeat this, in the pristine nature of finesse in African culture, but you General Olusegun Obasanjo, should be shot! for all the mindless rape you have levied on your nation, and continent. Professor Soyinka once referred to you as an idiot.

It is such a shame an idiot never knows when to shut his trap off... and really, should it not be time there is a blackout on these pranksters in the newspapers ?

Ondo state approved private schools: Where is the list ?

Over here at the Ondo state government official website, there was this headline:

------------
ODSG Displays List Of Approved Private Schools
------------

Problem is, clicking on the link with a view to finding the list, It is nowhere!

Reading through the article reveals the missing link though:

... the Education Commissioner in Ondo State, Mrs. Adenike Fatogun, has reiterated the present administration's commitment towards sanitizing the education sector

by compiling the list of approved private schools and displaying same in all Zonal Education Areas across the state

-----------

The list is apparently under compilation.

If Journalism does not travel without sensationalism, must sensationalism then become journalism ?

Sigh.

AK CITY: AK CONNECTION ALL STARS FT ID-RUBBER,G-MONARCH,SUNKY METURAZIE,DRAY B,JOHN D DON,E2SMART,OGUNZ,RELIANCE,ISAAC BENARD,BKAZE,LMB,BROCK INVICTUS

The mix was released over facebook and there is nothing else to say than: Its impressive! The lyrical delivery of the rap verses can improve. The drums too can be heavier.

A good way to increase their audience-penetration is to find a way to release the song on iTunes.

Let's hope this is the beginning of bigger and new things to happen from Ondo state.
