Industrialisation! simplified.

There are many things that frustrates about the state of Nigeria but cheap, uncritical thinking has to rank among the worst.

So, ondo state governor signs an MoU. And the journalists run to press, to declare that gigantic?

Hmm!.

We are confident that the project which begins with the signing of this MoU will, when completed, increase industrial activities in the state, help to create more jobs for citizens of and residents in the state and also boost the state’s revenue generation” the governor said.

That is all there is, in detail to what the MoU offers as reported here

No quantifiable parameters:-  What gets done ?
How Shell Nigeria is to proceed, start or deliver ?

No measurable elements.

What is even more startling, is the fact that  state’s admininistrators tend to see policies, as mutually exclusive.

If all the government thinks leads to industrialisation, is the signing of an MoU without adequately finding the plan, that will ultimately integrate the society’s industrial base with the very constituency of industry – educational institutions offering qualitative and globally relevant ideas as a rule -  well, its only a case of industrialisation simplified.

It would be deceitful.

2 wasted lives – Ondo state University killing.

When these stories do not feature on the headlines of a  nation’s mainstream media, or worse generate huge debate, then the very worst, the very one known as anarchy is here.

Trouble started when a peaceful protest by students degenerated, following the shooting of two persons to death.

The mob was said to be protesting the alleged killing of a motorcyclist by a senior police officer.

There are too much fracture spots on these behemoth that is Nigeria, and it is no surprise the Adekunle Ajasin University is all entangled in this; there isn’t much intellectual stuff going on out there anyways.

And those senior police officer never gets fished out, nor punished, nor prosecuted?

The ondo state government, not surprisingly is busy with pack-shifting…This would happen again. sadly!

The Mimiko Interview 1.

Just came across a lengthy interview with Mimiko, published here

The full excerpts of the interview can be downloaded/printed from here in PDF

There are interesting bits and there were tricky part but I shall post my thoughts soon as I finish reading.

Mimiko on Facebook ?

I ran into this link last night.

Obviously purporting to be governor Mimiko’s profile on the social-media site.

As of the time of writing this, Mimiko has 158 fans.

I am willing to bet its a spoof, although it would be interesting to actually see Mimiko on facebook.

We’ll  see.

Enter daytime Kidnapping…

The near helplessness of so-called state-security-services, in Nigeria in the face of

embarrassing security breaches, could not be more evident than in the  recent daylight abduction of Mrs Iyabo Basaru – wife of a state commnissioner as reported here

One wonders how it was supposed to be the Information Minister that offers immediate comments on the issue.

Hear him:

Commenting on the kidnap incident, the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Ranti Akerele, ruled out the payment of any ransom, saying the necessary security agents had been contacted on the incident.

But that is even beyond the point.

What is more startling, is that events such as these, very common in the Niger –Delta region, seems ready to kickoff, earnestly in Ondo state.

Of course, one might argue, its just a case of one abductee – but the stakes could not be higher.

With the benefit of grapevine knowledge, what the government does, to ‘win’ elections,  the sort of crooks and thugs, its political gladiators mix with, the sort of bogus criminalities that ensue, on a politicians’ road to success, in Ondo state, it is only predictable that this has just begun.

It will be interesting to see how the government handles this whilst scary, this experience must be with the families of the victim.

In-security, just took a new dimension in Ondo state…

Health Crises.

The team leader lamented that despite over N1billion expended by the state government on the first phase of the project, there was no appreciable  impact on the lives of the people.
According to her, "Ondo State actually has one of the worst health indices in this zone, which we found very surprising, seeing that the level of commitment of the people we met at the hospital, the doctors. We're wondering why it has such a really bad health for the whole zone".

That was some representative of the world back, passing a summation on the provision of health services in Ondo state as reported here

Then he proceeds to promise another $3.8 million into the system. No mention of working with the governmetn to plug holes, prosecuting someone, or ensuring that the new funds doesn’t get mis-used, just as the N1 Billion ?

Sometimes, it is so easy to see through the  hypocrisy of these international organisations, than it is to actually contemplate how cheap it is for our government’s to pilfer state funds.

pfff!

Going live on Facebook…

In order, that you may know…All Ondo state is going live on facebook. Just search for all ondo state.

The roll-out of a facebook channel is in motion.

Things to solidify over the coming days…

Nothing to celebrate in Ondo — PDP

Here.

Typical PDP! all there is to say.

N50 Million Naira women… another fluff?

The Ondo State government says it has concluded arrangements for the disbursement of N50 million as soft loans to market women in the state under its first stage of a women empowerment scheme.

This gesture, according to Governor Olusegun Mimiko is in line with his administration's determination to provide a shield for the womenfolk who are the backbone of the family.

From here.

This appears to be another  dangerous, if not fraudulent attempt to look good, while intentionally being dubious.

So the government disburses N50 million loans to market women- How’s to determine who qualifies for the loans ?

It has all the colour of the dubious Obasanjo strategy of recent old where monies are distributed between party members in the name of alleviating poverty.

Unless someone is not communicating his ideas properly,  I sense another N50 million of state resources, going down the drain here.  What do you think ?
